2. Look through the magazines. Find three photos that you find visually engaging. Tape them to a separate sheet of paper and answer the following questions.

• What do you like about the photo?
• What elements of composition can you find in the photo? How do these elements of composition work together to engage the viewer?
• What story does the photo tell? What details can you gain from the photo that would be difficult to explain through writing?

You are going to design a practice page that include the following items. You only have to complete one page, not a full spread.

1. Use a background from the website
2. Create a heading using two different types of fonts. 
• Your headline should help explain the story of the photos on you page.
3. Choose a dominant photo and at least three smaller photos. 
• These photos should be related to the dominant photo on the page.
• At least one of these photos should overlap another one.
• Try to use a special effect on the dominant photo.
4. Crop each photo so that there is not background noise.
5. Put a border around each photo (this should be at least .5 point). You may want to experiment with the thickness and colors of the frame.
6. Put a page number in the bottom corner. 
7. Include captions for the photos. Captions should be written in a simple, easy-to-read font.

Here is your assignment for the day.

Get a copy of the Yearbook Final Pages Assessment sheet. Choose a person from the class who is not working on the same section as you. Complete a detailed assessment of your partner's page. Be critical and try to help your partner earn the best grade possible. Provide meaningful and critical suggestions and comments so that you're partner can improve his/her page.

If there is an odd group of students, you may work in a group of 3.

Share the assessment with your partner and don't lose it! I will collect them and give you credit on Monday.
